Hi everyone! Happy Fear Monster Friday!
I don't know about you, but I know my fear monster has a really hard time dealing with "difficult" people. He kind of needs to figure it out because unless I go live in a cabin in the woods, there's no way of avoiding them!
Now, I try to remind George that when we're dealing with someone who is a bit of a challenge, they are most likely that way because they are suffering. Only hurting people hurt people. Even knowing that, confrontation is tough for George.
So, I'm trying to train him to ask how I can help. I'm really working on making it an automatic response, but it takes practice!
And even if I can get myself in the frame of mind to want to help the person who is being such a giant pain in the ass, it isn't always easy! A lot of times, difficult people don't actually WANT my help, and so trying to help only makes it worse. And sometimes, helping means giving out some tough love. And it's hard sometimes to do that, especially when it's someone you care about.
But even if you can't help the person who is being difficult, you can always find someone else to help! And that's such a good thing to do -- not only for them but for yourself too! Serving others helps to get you out of your head and almost always stops you from feeling sorry for yourself.
So, what do you think? Is this something you think you'd like to train your fear monster to do? Let me know in the comments!
Sending you all SO much love!
