Happy Fear Monster Friday!
This week, we're talking about the fear of the unknown. Have you ever noticed that when you want to try something new that you fear monster gets all panicked and jittery?
The unknown is scary because we don't have any data to assess the situation! The only way to find out what will happen is to actually try it!
Especially when we're something we really want, the fear of the unknown can be paralyzing.
But... have you ever noticed that fear and excitement feel almost the same? Just like right before you get on a roller coaster, you get butterflies in your stomach and weak in the knees. So which is it? Fear? Or excitement?
The only difference, really, is whether or not you've committed to the decision yet. Once you've made up your mind and you tell that fear monster that you're not going to change your mind, the way you interpret that feeling will change.
It also helps if you do a little research. Sometimes we get so paralyzed by the fear of the unknown that we don't even try to learn what we can. If you can give that fear monster some data to work with, he or she might calm down a bit.
I'd love to hear from you! Is your fear monster holding you back because of the unknown? Let me know in the comments!
Have a wonderful weekend! Lots of love,
Jillian
